| Performing in musicals led Jen Zias to discover the works
of such masters like Cole Porter, Rogers and Hart and the Gershwin brothers
when she was barely in high school. After graduating with an honors degree
in performance from Penn State, she moved to New Orleans to further her
jazz studies (and drink hurricanes) before coming to Chicago in 1995. Since her arrival in Chicago, Jen has impressed audiences with her diverse repertoire and arresting voice. The Illinois Entertainer calls her a cross between "the great Annie Ross and Rickie Lee Jones.” She has appeared as featured vocalist for many of the cities’ finest orchestras, as lead vocalist/co-founder of The Chicago Rhythm Review, one of Chicago’s premiere wedding bands, and as lead singer for the wacky Latin funk band, Samba Bamba, featured on Wild Chicago's 2001 Emmy Award Winning 12th Anniversary show. She has performed on THE JENNY JONES SHOW, at the Taste of Chicago, Chick Singer Night and Chicago Singer Spotlight, to name just a few. You can catch her interpreting a variety of jazz standards, swing, Brazilian, Motown and pop classics two weekends a month with pianist Dennis Anderson at The Pump Room. Whether fronting a duo, combo or orchestra, Jenniphre's terrific voice and fun personality will keep audiences' hearts bouncing! Whether interpreting classic favorites like “Our Love is Here to Stay” or her genre-jumping originals, she is a welcome addition to Chicago's music scene! |
